Shamwari Private Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape is synonymous with bush break luxury. As if their lodges weren’t luxurious enough, Shamwari has just announced plans to rebuild, redesign and create three ultra 5-star lodges.
Although the building process will take two years to fully complete, this is just part of Shamwari’s rebranding and repositioning in the safari marketplace. Three of the eight existing lodges, namely Eagles Crag Lodge, Riverdene Family Lodge and Long Lee Manor, will be completely recreated to offer guests a whole new level of lodge.
The end result will offer architectural and sheer design luxury, as well as new culinary offerings specific to each lodge. The architecture is by DSA Architects International, and the interior décor and design by K/M2K Architecture and Interior Design, both of which are South African-based companies.
Commenting on the project, group general manager, Joe Cloete, said: “We felt the time had come to not simply do extensive annual refurbishments of furniture and décor, but rather to redesign the lodges to elevate the guests’ offerings and comfort to absolute sheer safari luxury by means of extraordinary architectural, design and décor offerings.”
He continued,“We believe the hospitality industry is entering a new era in guest expectations and we hope to be leading this with four exceptional safari lodges coupled with our renowned, malaria-free big 5 safari and walking experiences.”
They were on our travel bucket list before, but now we are even more excited to give them a visit in the near future!
