Situated on a 32 000 square metre property located midway between Johannesburg and Pretoria, Gallagher Convention Centre offers clients 27 multi-purpose venues for clients to choose from and can cater for events varying from two to 7,000 participants. Marketing Manager for Gallagher Convention Centre, Leniese van der Merwe, tell us more.
About the venue
“At Gallagher Convention Centre we pride ourselves in our ability to customise the venue to suit any occasion,” says Leniese, explaining that the local conference industry benchmarks itself on Gallagher’s ability to transform from an intimate luncheon venue to the perfect location for a large conference or massive exhibition.
“Should clients require it, we offer them a single call solution through our extensive preferred supplier network that assists with everything from freight and logistics to décor and event technical. By making use of our supplier network clients have access to pre-negotiated rates and suppliers with proven service records that know our venue intimately,” says Leniese.
Leniese adds that Gallagher Convention Centre also has its own PCO network. She explains that these partners are always the first to receive updates and information about new services at the convention centre to in-turn offer their clients better service.
One of the many draw cards for the venue is its accessibility. Leniese says that due to its central location in Midrand, budget-conscious clients often choose to host their roadshows at Gallagher Convention Centre, combining the cost of hosting separate Johannesburg and Pretoria workshops in one. “The variety of 27 venues means that we can offer clients solutions to suit their needs,” she adds.
The convention centre is conveniently located close to the Midrand Gautrain Station and the Gautrain bus stops just outside Gallagher’s main gate “Our accessibility is not only limited to delegate access. We also offer a drive-in-drive-out loading solution, which makes set up quick and easy,” says Leniese.
In the current tough economic climate, Leniese says that she has noted a definite move towards the hosting of last-minute events and adds that Gallagher’s on-site services means that they have the resources to react quickly and smoothly to handle late arrangements successfully.
Dining and F&B
Another trend that Leniese has noted is a shift towards holistic themes where all aspects of the event – even the catering experiences – must fit into the look, feel and theme of the event. “We are seeing more uptake in fun alternatives to the traditional sit-down lunch with clients requesting casual street food dining options more regularly. There is also a focus on arranging more health-conscious conferences with harvest tables and fresh pressed juice stands in high demand.”
Good to know…
In line with consideration of their clients, Gallagher Convention Centre has acted on measures to reduce the environmental impact of events. Gallagher focuses on the importance of recycling and reducing the impact of single-use plastics such as straws as well as only makes use of energy saving lighting solutions. We also take contingencies very seriously and have an in-house water tank and generator, says Leniese.
“We pride ourselves in our service excellence, and this means that regardless of the request we need to be mindful to be flexible enough to turn the client’s vision into a reality,” concludes Leniese.
